The Experience

Before sunrise you leave the palm-lined beaches of Bentota and drive inland, the air cooling as paddy fields give way to low forest and scattered tanks. On the road the countryside moves like a living map—ox-carts, small temples, and roadside vendors—until the first stop: the rock-cut caves of Dambulla where centuries of paint and statue work press close to the visitor.

Before You Go
