The Experience

Before You Go

Start early for cooler climbs

Begin at first light to avoid heat on the stone stairways and get clearer morning light for photos.

Hydrate for the climb

Carry at least 2 liters of water—there are spots to refill in Habarana but not on the upper terraces.

Keep distance from elephants

Always remain in the jeep during Minneriya safaris; elephants can be unpredictable, especially in breeding season.

Wear grippy footwear
