Before You Go

Start early for Sigiriya

Climb before 7am to avoid crowds and midday heat; the ascent takes 30–60 minutes depending on pace.

Book the Nanu Oya–Ella train

Reserve seats or at least arrive early at Nanu Oya station—the 3pm service is popular for the scenic ride to Ella.

Morning safari timing

Yala and Minneriya safaris are best at dawn when animals are most active; plan pickups for 5–6am.
