The Experience

You climb into a roomy Jeep and the red rock country pushes against the windows—ears filled with the rattle of the trail, eyes tracking cliffs that change hue with each turn. The road steepens; the vehicle negotiates old wagon ruts as pine-scented air replaces desert heat. At the rim, the landscape opens and the plateau dares you to take it in: Snoopy Rock, Merry-Go-Round Rock and Mitten Ridge laid out like chapters of a long volcanic story.

Before You Go
