Rock Climbing and Abseiling in Snowdonia and Anglesey: Guided Cliffs of North Wales
Tackle sea cliffs and old quarry faces under the guidance of experienced instructors in North Wales. This full-day climb-and-abseil experience suits beginners and seasoned climbers who want coached progression on real rock.
The Experience
Before You Go
Footwear for approaches
Wear stiff-soled approach shoes or light boots for uneven tracks to the crag; climbing shoes are provided but not ideal for muddy walks.
Hydration and snacks
Bring at least 1–2 liters of water and high-energy snacks — long belays and exertion on the rock drain energy quickly.
Watch the tide and nesting notices
Coastal crags can be off-limits during seabird nesting seasons and at high tide; confirm with your operator before heading out.
Layer for wind and spray
Even on sunny days, wind and sea spray can make faces cold—pack a lightweight waterproof shell and warm mid-layer.

Snowdonia’s cliffs and quarries are shaped by a slate-mining past; many climbing walls began as quarry faces cut for industry in the 19th century.
