Langtang Cultural Trek: Gosaikunda Pass 10-Day High-Altitude Trek
A 10-day circuit through Langtang to the sacred Gosaikunda lakes, this trek mixes Tamang village culture with high alpine passes. Expect long ascent days, basic lodges, and panoramic Himalayan views.
The Experience
Before You Go
Acclimatize deliberately
Build in the rest day at Gosaikunda and avoid gaining more than 300–500 m of sleeping elevation per day once above 3,000 m.
Footwear and traction
Sturdy, broken-in hiking boots and a pair of microspikes in shoulder season will help on rocky and icy sections, especially near Laurebina Yak Pass.
Water and purification
Carry a 1–2 liter bladder and a filtration or purification method—tea at lodges is available but treat all high-altitude water sources.
Cash and etiquette
Bring sufficient Nepalese rupees for tea-house purchases and tip porters; remove shoes at village homes and respect monastery spaces.

Conservation Note
Langtang National Park restricts fires and grazing in alpine areas; trekkers should pack out waste, use existing trails and support local teahouses to reduce ecological impact.
Tamang villages along the trail preserve Tibetan-influenced Buddhist traditions; Gosaikunda is also a historic Hindu pilgrimage site celebrated during the full-moon festival.
