The Experience

The trail begins with the railway’s distant whistle and the green hills leaning close like onlookers. From the start near Kithal Ella station the path up Ella Rock cuts through terraced tea and scattered jackfruit trees; every footfall pushes you higher until the valley unfurls beneath you. Later, the Nine Arches bridge appears—stone curves framed by ferns and passing trains—before the last gentle climb toward Little Adam’s Peak, where sunset pours gold over ridgelines.

Before You Go

Start before 8 AM

Begin early to enjoy cooler temperatures on Ella Rock and avoid the busiest times at the Nine Arches and Little Adam’s Peak.

Wear grip-focused footwear

Trails include uneven rock, loose soil and wet steps—sturdy hiking shoes will significantly reduce slip risk.
