Blue Mountains Weekend Rock Climbing Course from Katoomba

The Experience
Before You Go
Bring durable approach shoes
Approaches can be rocky and uneven—trail shoes with grippy soles make the short hikes safer and more comfortable.
Hydrate and eat well
Carry at least 1–2 liters of water each day and eat a carb-rich breakfast—the course is active with sustained effort.
Be prepared for exposure
Sandstone routes often have steep drop-offs; if you’re nervous with heights, tell your instructor so they can tailor coaching and route choice.
Layer for variable weather
Temperatures can swing; pack a lightweight windproof and a breathable base layer to stay comfortable while climbing and belaying.

Conservation Note
The area is part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area—stick to established tracks, avoid chalking rock faces, and pack out all waste to protect fragile vegetation and sandstone.
The Blue Mountains were and remain important to the Gundungurra and Darug peoples; European settlers later developed sandstone quarrying and bushwalking tourism in the 19th century.
