The Experience

You kick gravel at dawn, KTM engines rumbling beneath a cold mountain air that pushes you up switchbacks toward the high cirques of the Rila range. Pines lean low and the trail alternates between dusty forest tracks, stony riverbeds and open alpine saddles that give way to views of Musala — the Balkans’ highest summit at 2,925 m — daring you higher.

Before You Go

Hydrate and refuel between stages

Carry at least 2–3 liters of water and high‑energy snacks—mountain days are long and remote.

Protective gear is non‑negotiable

Full off‑road helmet, boots and body armor significantly reduce injury risk on rocky descents.

Ride to conditions

Mud and wet rock can turn technical sections hazardous—reduce speed and follow your guide’s line.

Carry basic spares and tools

Bring a tube/repair kit, tire irons, multi-tool and a small puncture kit for roadside fixes.
