10-Day Gobi Desert & Express Mongolia Adventure from Khongor Dunes to Orkhon Valley

The Experience
Before You Go
Hydrate before and during travel
Long vehicle transfers and dry air accelerate dehydration — carry at least 2–3 liters and electrolyte tablets for dusty days.
Layer for temperature swings
Days in the Gobi can be hot and nights cold; lightweight base layers plus an insulated jacket cover most conditions.
Protect from sun and wind
Sunglasses, broad-brim hat and SPF 30+ sunscreen are essential on exposed dunes and plateaus.
Respect nomadic customs
Ask permission before entering gers, remove shoes when invited and keep noise low around livestock and households.

Common Questions
Do I need previous riding experience?
No advanced skill is required; basic riding ability helps but guides provide strong, local horses and instruction for beginners.

Nights are in tourist ger camps, nomadic family gers or simple tents depending on the day — expect basic facilities and shared bathrooms at some camps.
Is altitude a concern?
Most of the route is at moderate elevation; higher Khangai sections can feel cool and occasionally snowy, but altitude sickness is uncommon.
How remote is the trip and is medical help available?
Much of the tour is remote with long drives; guides carry first-aid kits and communication devices, but advanced medical care requires transfer to Ulaanbaatar.
